Podcast - Interview with the Author
Jill Ammon Vanderwood is the mother of four grown children and the grandmother of six. Born and raised in the state of Oregon, she was the third of eleven children. She now makes her home in Utah, with her husband, Bill.
Jill enjoys spending time with her family, going to movies, and camping. Her hobbies include quilting, reading mysteries, eating chocolate, and traveling.
Growing up, she enjoyed reading books about children going on magical adventures. Her favorite author was Edward Eager.
After telling her grandchildren the story of Jack and the Beanstalk in every imaginable way, she began making up her own stories. The characters in her stories are named after her own grandchildren, and many of the ideas come from the children themselves.
Through the Rug is the author’s first children’s book.
